IRS Extends Deadline
The IRS has extended the federal income tax filing due date from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020. Any payments due on April 15 are also deferred to July 15 without penalties and interest. This includes the balance due with your return and the first quarterly estimated tax payment. The second estimate for individuals is still due June 15, 2020.
Michigan has not extended the due date of the state return or payment. You can hold these payments until April 15 and check with your tax preparer to see if Michigan deferred the payments due.
